Calcification patterns of the internal elastic membrane of the main pelvic arteries, lower limb arteries, brachial, splenic and renal arteries were demonstrated grossly by a modified von Kossa technique. In the elastic segment in the common and internal iliac arteries, the membrane calcification appeared as groups of roundish or polygonal incrustations. They were found frequently in newborns, and were always present in infants of more than three months, as well as in adults. This study was designed to analyse the relationship between arterial hypertension and changes in arterial blood flow and vascular wall damage of the lower limbs in hypertensive patients with various degrees of hypertension. Six hundred and fifty-four hypertensive patients (421 males and 233 females) aged 35 to 70 years and 88 healthy subjects (63 males and 25 females) aged 39 to 60 years were studied. BACKGROUND: Older adults compared with young adults have reduced strength and balance recovery ability. The purpose of the present study was to investigate whether age, sex, and/or lower limb strength predicted the stepping strategy used to recover from a forward loss of balance. Osteochondritis dissecans of the lateral tibial condyle. Report of a new case and review of the literature.

Osteochondritis dissecans (OD) of the lateral tibial condyle is a rare condition. A review of the literature revealed only nine cases in seven patients. We report about a new case. It is widely accepted that this form of OD originates from an accessory center of ossification. Our case supports this theory. Although comparative roentgenograms of the left knee, taken because of complaints in the right one, were interpreted to be normal, retrospective analysis clearly revealed the lateral intercondylar eminence of the left knee to have been irregular many years before the onset of symptoms. Association with a classical OD in the contralateral knee is striking in most of the reported cases.
